Westminster Wheels: Supporting the Community Through Cycling
Westminster Wheels has been serving the local community since 2020, opening its doors on Church Street to meet the needs of residents. The shop provides affordable refurbished bikes, essential accessories, high-quality locks, and expert advice on cycle skills. A full range of bike services is available, including repairs and maintenance, along with an initiative to recycle old inner tubes—ensuring sustainability remains a priority.
Maintaining a bike can often be costly, but Westminster Wheels offers competitively priced services and runs a programme donating bikes and free maintenance to community groups and charities. The team also supports cyclists with DIY repair guidance and provides access to basic tools, including an outdoor pump station.
At the heart of Westminster Wheels is its flagship training programme, designed to support unemployed Westminster residents. Trainees receive industry-recognised qualifications in bicycle repair and gain hands-on experience through a six-month placement. Before completing the programme, participants receive CV support and connections to prospective employers. Many graduates secure jobs in the cycling industry, while others progress into further education—each success story reinforcing the programme’s impact.
Beyond its social mission, Westminster Wheels is committed to sustainability. The initiative has recycled kilos of inner tubes, diverted tons of bicycles from landfill, and restored hundreds of bikes—enabling people to commute, attend job interviews, or simply enjoy cycling with their families.
