This week, along with the most influential people from the international property sector, New West End Company is attending MIPIM, the global real estate forum in Cannes, to continue our work driving investment to the West End. With over 24,000 delegates from 100 different countries it’s a great opportunity to raise the profile of the West End to a targeted global audience, highlighting the benefits for investors once the Elizabeth line opens this year and the numerous public realm initiatives underway across the district.
My first event at MIPIM immediately put on centre stage the benefits of strategic regeneration projects in London. Hosted by London First, the ‘Welcome to MIPIM’ reception was introduced by Deputy Mayor of London for planning, regeneration and skills, Jules Pipe, setting the tone for a full programme of inspirational talks and events in the week ahead.
One of my first meetings was with MIPIM News – the daily publication circulated at the event – to share our updates in the West End. The biggest change coming to our district this year is the opening of the Elizabeth line, so it was great to discuss our recent research which has revealed the growth opportunities for businesses and investors as a result of the significant increase in visitors arriving on the new £14.8bn railway. Our work over the coming months will focus on preparing businesses in our area for the unprecedented change that will occur between 2018 – 2021. You can read my full interview with MIPIM News below:
Later in the evening I enjoyed a lively discussion around the latest innovations in real estate over dinner with the Editor of Estates Gazette, Damian Wild, Property Networker and great collaborator Susan Freeman, former CEO of the British Property Federation Liz Peace and Chairman of James Andrew International, Harvey Soning.
