Drapers: Comment on Crossrail

Recently I was delighted to be approached by Drapers to write a piece on how the West End is preparing for the arrival of Crossrail next year.
In the piece I described the Elizabeth Line as a ‘catalyst’ for change, innovation and development across the West End. This is already evident in some major projects that are already underway transforming the landscape of the district. Our £10m redevelopment of Bond Street, which kicked-off in April, will bring enhanced public realm to the luxury shopping street and our pilot scheme on Bird Street has shown the potential for the utilisation of side streets as havens off the main high street.
Creating a world-class experience for the new visitors that Crossrail will bring will mean tackling current problems, such as poor air quality and inadequate public spaces to ensure we remain globally competitive across the whole of the West End. We have already achieved so much but are excited to help deliver the remaining changes and challenges together with our partners.
