The golden quarter of the year, encompassing the Christmas season, is the key trading period for retailers and businesses in London’s West End and turnover reaches £2.5bn over the eight weeks. Although it has been a challenging year for businesses, many retailers performed well pre-Christmas, attracting domestic and international customers with unique experiences in store, early discounts and festive events.
Boxing Day was a critical trading day in London’s West End and we saw a 16% increase in footfall year on year and £50 million spent across the district with many international and domestic shoppers taking advantage of the major discounts.
Our CEO Jace Tyrrell was on the ground providing a running commentary for media throughout the day.
